1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the acceptable and prohibited uses of Pact's Services. This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. Violation of this AUP may result in suspension or termination of your account.
2. Acceptable Uses
You may use the Services to:
- Analyze and review contracts and legal documents for business purposes
- Generate AI-assisted analysis, suggestions, and reports
- Collaborate with team members and external parties on contract negotiations
- Store and organize legal documents within your account
- Access compliance scanning and regulatory analysis tools
- Use our API in accordance with your subscription plan and our API terms
3. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the Services to:
3.1 Illegal Activities
- Violate any applicable law, regulation, or legal obligation
- Facilitate or promote illegal activities, including money laundering, fraud, or tax evasion
- Create, store, or transmit content that is illegal in any jurisdiction
- Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
3.2 Harmful Content
- Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
- Transmit content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, or abusive
- Distribute content that exploits or harms minors
- Spread false or misleading information
3.3 System Abuse
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services or connected networks
- Circumvent security measures, rate limits, or access restrictions
- Probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities without authorization
- Use automated systems beyond permitted API usage
3.4 Misrepresentation
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as human-created legal advice
- Present the Services as a substitute for licensed legal counsel
- Create accounts using false or misleading information
3.5 Commercial Restrictions
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Services without authorization
- Use the Services to build a competing product
- Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Services for unauthorized purposes
- Share account credentials or allow unauthorized access
4. Content Guidelines
When uploading content to the Services:
- Ensure you have the right to upload and process the content
- Do not upload content that contains personal data without proper authorization
- Respect confidentiality obligations to third parties
- Remove or redact sensitive information that is not necessary for analysis
5. API Usage
If you use our API:
- Respect rate limits and usage quotas for your subscription tier
- Do not share API keys or allow unauthorized access
- Implement proper error handling and retry logic
- Do not use the API to circumvent usage limits on the web interface
- Attribute Pact appropriately in your application if required
6. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, please report it to abuse@closepact.com. We will investigate reports and take appropriate action, which may include removing content, suspending accounts, or reporting violations to law enforcement.
7. Consequences of Violations
Violations of this AUP may result in:
- Warning and request to remedy the violation
- Temporary suspension of account access
- Permanent termination of account
- Removal of violating content
- Legal action where appropriate
- Reporting to relevant authorities
